Questions

Which art site has the lowest commission?

ArtPal and Of Nature and Art take 0% (ArtPal is free to join; membership here is $35 a month). Fine Art America pays you the markup you set over its base price. Saatchi Art takes 40%, Artfinder 40 to 45%, Singulart and UGallery 50%.

Is a monthly fee better than commission?

From the second sale a year, yes. Two $1,200 originals cost $960 in commission on Saatchi Art. Twelve months here cost $348 and the commission is zero.

Can I sell on several sites at once?

On most, yes. UGallery requires exclusivity on the works it lists. Check each site's terms for the rest.

Do I need my own website to sell paintings?

Not to start. A page with your name, medium, sizes, prices and a way to reach you does the job. That is what a member page here is.
