Nature art prints.
Nature art divides into a few old traditions: botanical and still life, birds and animals, gardens, land and water. This guide maps where to buy each of them, new, vintage or free. It is written by a shop that sells them, so we say so where we appear.
Botanical and still life
The tradition runs from Dutch Golden Age bouquets to the plates of the great botanical illustrators. Antique dealers sell original plates and pages; the open marketplaces carry endless modern takes, of very mixed origin. Birds and animals
Wildlife painting had a golden age around the turn of the last century: Liljefors in Sweden, Thorburn in Scotland, and the Japanese woodblock masters setting birds on branches. Audubon’s plates are the American classic, in archives and on dealers’ walls. Ours, falcons to a tiger, are here.
Gardens, land and water
Garden painting is the domestic end of the tradition, courtyards and greenhouses and the painters’ own back beds; landscape and marine painting the wild end: swans in the reeds, horses cooling in a river, moonlight on mountains and open water. Our gardens are here, land and water here.

Vintage and antique: Etsy’s vintage listings and curated sites like Chairish carry original old prints and plates. Condition varies and that is the charm; ask about foxing, trimming and whether the frame is original.

On AI
