No AI art.

Nothing sold here is AI-generated, and nothing AI-assisted is accepted: not in a work’s early stages, not in any medium, not by exception. Every work in the collection is a painting by a named artist in a stated medium: oil, watercolour, gouache or ink.

The rule is easy to keep because of how the collection is built. There are no open uploads. Historic works are documented in museum and archive records. Living painters show us a body of work, not a single file, before anything is listed; a decade of consistent painting is much harder to fake than one image.

Why the rule is absolute

Generated images have spread through much of the online art trade, often unlabelled, and finding a real painting increasingly means wading through them. That is partly why this shop exists. Generation is cheap now, which makes the opposite scarce: a painting is evidence of attention, of someone looking at a subject long enough to get it right. That is the thing we sell.

Where other art sites stand

Worth stating plainly, because the policies differ more than the storefronts do. Artfinder bans AI work outright, across the whole process, and deserves credit for saying so first. Saatchi Art prohibits work generated solely by AI but permits AI tools in a work’s preliminary stages. Etsy allows AI-generated work if the seller discloses it, listed as designed rather than made by the seller. Fine Art America sells AI-generated images in categories of their own.

None of this is hidden; it is simply spread across policy pages most buyers never read. Our line is shorter: none, at any stage.

Four questions to ask any art shop

If you are buying art anywhere and want to be sure a person painted it, these settle most cases.

Is there a named artist with a body of work: years of consistent output, exhibitions, a studio? Or is there only a portfolio of images?

Is a physical medium stated? Oil, watercolour, gouache and ink are checkable claims; “digital art” is not.

Does the no-AI policy, if there is one, cover assistance and a work’s early stages, or only the final file?

Is the work documented anywhere off the platform: a museum record, an archive, an exhibition history?
