Compared with Desenio.
Desenio, from Stockholm, set out to help people make beautiful homes with affordable wall art, and it delivers: an in-house design team, trend-led collections, posters, frames and ready-made gallery walls at prices that make redecorating painless. Credit where due, as well: the company is FSC-certified and plants two trees for every one its production uses.
Poster or painting
The real difference is not taste but the object. Desenio's catalogue is design-led: graphic prints, illustration, typography and photography, printed as posters. We sell paintings: works that exist in oil, watercolour, gouache or ink first, printed giclée on Hahnemühle German Etching, 310 gsm velvet matte, because etching paper carries a painting's surface the way poster stock cannot. Nothing in our collection began as a digital file.
On price
Their point is price, and they win it; a full Desenio wall can cost less than a single large print here. What the extra buys is specific: archival etching paper, sizes fitted to each painting instead of standard poster cuts, a collection chosen one painting at a time, and a strict no-AI rule. From $49, it is decor at one end and a painting on the wall at the other.
