Etsy at its best is a wonderful thing: millions of independent shops, and behind the good ones a real maker you are buying from directly. Some of the finest small print sellers on the internet live there, and the vintage listings are a pleasure of their own.
On AI
Etsy's published Creativity Standards permit AI-generated work: the seller must disclose it, and it is listed as designed by the seller rather than made by them. That is a workable rule for a marketplace of millions, and more than some platforms ask. It does mean the sifting is yours: handmade, vintage and generated work arrive in the same search results, with the disclosure inside the listing.
Here that work is done before anything is listed. Nothing is generated, nothing AI-assisted is accepted, and every work is a painting by a named artist in a stated medium, documented in museum records or vouched for by a body of work.
The object
On Etsy, paper, sizing and shipping are each shop's own, which is the nature of the model, not a flaw.
